OUR INSTRUCTORS

SUSAN LEGRAND, CFI, CFII, MEI, Chief Instructor

Originally from Nairobi, Kenya, she always knew she wanted to be a pilot and when life granted the opportunity to try it while on vacation in Kansas, she jumped at the opportunity. That first flight led to a whole career change from an Avionics Tech with Kenya Airways to starting all over as a student in University of Central Missouri (UCM) where she graduated with a Flight Operations Management degree and went on to complete her ratings with ATP. She currently is a CFI, CFII and MEI and enjoying every day in the skies.

JACOB THARP, CFI, CFII, MEI

I was born in Shawnee, KS and have lived here most of my life. I study at Johnson County Community College and pursued my certification through ATP Flight Schools where I received my CFI, CFII, and MEI. When I’m not flying, I’m studying, exercising, or spending time with friends and family. Traveling is a big activity of mine and one of the many things that attracted me to the aviation community. I teach private through commercial and I enjoy working with people to help them reach their goals.

“To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each             other and to feel. That is the purpose of life.”

JOE JEROME, CFI, CFII, MEI

Joe was born and raised in Shawnee, Kansas. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Pittsburg State University in 2017. He received his PPL from Air Associates, and then pursued the rest of his certificates and ratings at ATP flight school in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He spend time instructing at ATP flight school in Atlanta before moving back to the Kansas City area to fly with Air Associates.
